Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2001 911 Carrera with a locked trunk and a disconnected battery. What now? How do you now open the trunk?

POST 2Original post

Chain saw. Did you try the red jumper in the bottom of the fuse box? Pull it out so that you can hook a battery + to it and minus to the door striker. If that does not work you may have to go the emergency trunk release that is in front of the right front wheel behind the inner fender. It is a thin silver cable. Sometimes you can get lucky and find it by pulling the marker light out, it just snaps in at the rear, and looking in through the hole. There is also an engine cover release between the left tail light and the bumper. You can get a little clearance by gently wedging a soft plastic spatula in between the bottom of the light and the bumper to allow you to fish it out with a thin wire hook. When you have the engine cover open you can try a jumper battery using the + connection and the large bolt that holds the air cleaner. I think with the battery disconnected you may have to go to the manual cable release.
