Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If you don't have an old computer hard drive, find one at a 2nd-hand thrift store or maybe PC Electronic repair place, they will have a junk box with a few in there.
Leading evidence: 'Use 25x15x5mm neodymium and they were 16 bux off aliexpress' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair place, they will have a junk box' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Ive used these to replace other plastic filter housings.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Is this the same as magnets that reduce fuel consumption, or it has its use?

Will it "work" as in cause some probably small and insignificant amount of ferrous debris to be held adjacent to the magnets? Probably, but I question how effective the magnets are through a few layers of plastic as well as the overall effectiveness on magnets on oil filters beyond their potential diagnostic value, i.e. maybe catching larger pieces of ferrous metal indicating a problem.
Walk away and buy a quality magnetic drain plug.....
I was wondering how many of the engine's metals are actually caught by the magnet on the drain plug. I don't believe this gadget catches more things than the filter itself
Who knows for sure and they are probably more important in gearboxes than engines. I like magnetic drain plugs not for filtering but as another diagnostic tool, both for the volume of what they hold (easier to read than the pleats of a filter) and what they catch such as chunks or parts that are too large to make it through the oil filter pickup. I once had one catch the errant end of our LR Defender diesel's piston squirter. I may have not seen it in time, or ever, if the magnetic plug hadn't been there.
Magnetic oil filtration is not Snake Oil.....
Paper Celulose or other standard filters catch metal particles of 10-20 Microns.... While magnet will not catch Copper or Aluminum ect, it will catch Iron/Steel all the way down to 1 Micron in size...
I have Epoxied Neodymium Magnets to my plastic filter housings for decades...and yes it does still have magnetic force through the thick plastic.... There is always some very fine/small Ferrous debris attached to the inside wall where the magnets are located...
Magnetic drain plugs are good as well to catch Iron/Steel, but not Copper /Aluminum ect...
That said $100 is kinda steep in my book for some magnets, but I have no way to know is actual costs to produce that item.....
LN has been selling this type of magnet made by Filtermag for some time now. A lot of discussion on Filtermag web site. That said, I dont have one. I do have a magnetic drain plug.
Funnily enough I actually diyed the same kind of thing (with the clamping in the design itself) a while back, so I know pretty accurately.
The magnets are rather expensive. Don't know which ones he used but I used 25x15x5mm neodymium and they were 16 bux off aliexpress. You need a clamp (or big ziptie; +/- 1usd) and then the 3d file / print is trivial, <1 euro.
I might make my design available for something like 2usd and share it.
So id reckon margins are the same as porsche takes off their oem spares 😂
If you take an old computer hard drive apart you will find 2, maybe 3-4 selenium magnets. These things are incredibly strong and fiercely resist being pried off a metal surface with your fingers. I have some epoxied to the base of a motorcycle accessory. (I had to put a very thin plastic on bottom so I could
slide
the thing off without scratching paint!)
Anyway, a couple of these epoxied to the outside of P-plastic canister or held on by simple stainless clamp will do the same thing for pennies. If you don't have an old computer hard drive, find one at a 2nd-hand thrift store or maybe PC Electronic repair place, they will have a junk box with a few in there. Simple.
My Ural has a Siberian GPS.
YMMV
I just epoxied some ceramic magnets from Lowe's onto the filter canister, to trap metallic fragments so I can tell if I am losing a bearing or cams or etc.
Less than $10 for the high heat epoxy and the magnets, I think.
I like the idea of having the magnets removable, then it will be easy to ensure the metal is cleaned out of the housing.
On that note, is anyone using the Uro metal filter housing? Ive used these to replace other plastic filter housings. They have a nice feel and adds a little confidence in the housing, plus Im sure they shed a bit more heat.
I know spin on filter is a popular mod too, I dont want to derail this or debate spin on vs housing. Just curious if the aluminum housing is popular.
The aluminum housing would be easier to modify by JBL welding magnet pockets or something onto it.
Fire hazard? How does a DIY magnet solution pose a fire hazard? I really can't imagine such a scenario developing, and am curious as to how it could happen.
