Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi , did some searching first , I couldn't find anything that fits this... My sunroof makes a noise a "tick" , a "click" or "clonk" , almost everytime I hit a bump or drive on cobblestones. It sounds like something is moving around sideways , and hitting body.Somewhere inside the roof... I have tried to locate it , but so far no luck. It also comes no matter if roof is closed , tilted open from rear or fully open. To be precise it sounds to me like a wire or something like that is loose from its holder (clip) and thus the wire/cable is allowed to move around inside upthere somewhere. Simply I have no idea whatkind of a mechanism is running the sunroof. So cant be sure if it is cable or a wire or something else. Not a big issue , just simply annoying.... :x

POST 2Original post

Sunroof rattle I think its a known problem with the cassette that it slids back into - the plastic rails that guide it. Does the noise disappear with the sunroof open? I have the same noise with mine. I believe there is a technical service bulliten available on renntech to enable a DIY fix. But I don't think my DIY skills are up to removing the headlining - its one of those jobs that in past experience (with other lesser motors) never goes back quite as well. Testement the fact I have asked my OPC to take on the job 3 times and they have either forgotten - or told me they couldn't spot the noise on their test drive! (maybe all those blasts in PSE equipped cars have left them deaf  )

Thanks , I'll try to locate that Renntech article. I also recall reading somewhere else , that the noise from sunroof is common on 996... Anyway , I bet that the task of fixing the sunroof noise is so fiddly , that the Porsche mechanics sort of forget to do it... :? Or it i so time consuming that the bill of service will be sky high.
