Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=18648 EXPECT HIGHER REPAIR AND SERVICING BILLS EU plans threaten independant garages. What with the credit crunch and rising fuel and motoring costs, we're about to be hit with another rise when we service our cars. The EU planned changes mean car manufacturers will no longer be forced to provide parts and computer codes to independent garages so they can carry out repairs on the vehicles. Instead motorists will have to have their cars fixed at the manufacturer's dealership workshops, where charges are up to 40 per cent more. The average hourly charge at an independent garage is £55.63 compared to £94.70 at a dealership garage, according to recent figures. David Gerrans, of insurance firm Warranty Direct, said: "It would be a disaster." On top of this thousands of motorists will be facing higher road tax bills from next year too.

POST 3Original post

bit like the donny grand prix. you would think that manufacturers would encourage a strong indy network. It gives them something to differentiate themselves from and supports the used car market. They need those things to keep on selling new ones. I'm sure the EU didn't come up with this on their own, there must be some sort of lobby.

POST 4Original post

WOW after a month of 996 ownership I recognise someone from the TT forum on here. I used to own a yellow 225TT X-UFO not a regular poster but reader. 4 years of two TTs ownership. Now got a speed yellow 996 and loving it....................... small world. Any other ex-TTers on here you know of? Apologies for the thread hijack.

POST 5Original post

Hi, apologies too for taking this off topic. Another ex TT owner, still browse the TT Forum from time to time. Had my 996 C4S since May and loving it too.

POST 6Original post

TT Owners unite eh  (ex cars include TTR and TTQS)

POST 8Original post

I am pretty convinced that this will only apply to the new car sales, I cannot believe for a second that they will reduce competition within the service sector at all... P.S I had a TT225 back in 2000 on an X - great cars!

POST 9Original post

This legislation (Block Exemption) only applies to new car warranties anyway... Independent commercial 'breakdown insurance ' can say whatever they like in their T&Cs anyway. PS. I also had a TT 225 - one of the last un-sanitised ones, which was great fun!

POST 10Original post

Absolutely - although bear in mind there are now up to 7 year warranties out there - albeit nothing too mainstream yet. I would be staggered if they allow any movement from what exists today for servicing, I think it actually works very well. I too had a non-spoilered TT- great fun

POST 11Original post

Will all you Audi TT ex-owners please get a room
