Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have a 996 Turbo S, it has the slot for sim cards so I thought it would be a good idea to have my provider send out a pay as you go sim to just have one in the car to make use of its in car phone system....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Guys, I have a 996 Turbo S, it has the slot for sim cards so I thought it would be a good idea to have my provider send out a pay as you go sim to just have one in the car to make use of its in car phone system.... didn't work, is this compatibility issues between todays '3G' style sim cards to the pre 2005 system installed in the car?

POST 2Original post

I have the same car as you and mine hasn't got the telephone module even though it has the drawer for the SIM card in the PCM unit. Worth checking if you have the telephone module fitted as it was an optional extra. It will be shown on the VIL in the service book, I think its code 666

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ah so thats why it doesn't work! wasn't fitted! thank you!

POST 4Original post

Thanks Ash - you have solved an issue that has been bugging me for 4 years ! - I have 665 but not 666 ! Chris
