Unfortunately, I have learned the hard way that 75W-90 is not the right oil to use in the Tiptronic transmission. I am now looking at either rebuilding my current transmission, or buying a used one. I am also wondering if it is at all possible to swap the manual transmission into this car. Obviously many modifications would be needed for the clutch pedal, linkages, etc. What modifications to the engine are required to attach a manual transmission to an engine that was previously mated to a tiptronic. Any help with where to buy a used transmission (Tiptronic or Manual) or where to buy a transmission rebuild kit would be a massive help.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ouch! TipT is not a whole lot different than a normal automatic. Find a shop that does German tranmission rebuilds. ZF service in Illinois is helpful, and I have actually been able to have an email discussion with an engineer to answer a question.
Atlanta Speedwerks did the distance sensor replacement on my PDK . It was not cheap, not even slightly. But still far cheaper than a new transmission. Give them a call, see if they can help you out. I wound up shipping my car to them, they fixed it, then I had it shipped back.
What issues are happening with the transmission? Have you dropped the valve body so all the fluid in the upper parts of the transmission can drain? If not - I'd do that before replacing it. As far as where - dunno about New Zealand.. not familiar with the auto scene there, but eBay is everywhere isn't it? That's one possibility. Are there wrecking yards that specialize in Euro cars?
Have you tried a few drain and fills with the correct fluid. I would do that first.
If you put gear oil in an automatic transmission, you have almost certainly contaminated the clutch lining/friction material. You can try a few changes to get most if the fluid out, but you can not restore the friction material. Depending on how worn the linings were and how hard you drive you might get away for a while. Watch closely for signs of slippage such as "flaring" on a shift.
Totally agree but I would try it before I go to a rebuild.
The oil was in the transmission for over a month, and I did a track day with it in. The degradation happened slowly, so I didn't notice anything wrong with it. A friend pointed out that it shifted really slowly and not very well. I don't know what slipping clutches would feel like so can't say whether it is doing that or not. I talked to a specialist who has said that theres not much hope to save it. They could try flush it, which would cost 1.5K in fluid, or they could rebuild it for 6.5K. Flushing it would obviously be better than driving it with the wrong fluid, but the damage has already been done and it will neve be the same. The price difference isn't crazy, so I think the best path to go right now is to rebuild it. I have seen a couple transmissions for sale online, however they have 250,000km, so would likely not be much better. If I can find a transmission with under 120,000km that looks good, then I would consider that route if it plus shipping would cost less than the rebuild.
The Tiptronic isn't a magic transmission and there are other vendors selling oil for it MUCH less expensively than Porsche does - and those fluids would work just fine for a flush or two. Unless you disassemble it and drop the valve body you're only going to do about half the fluid anyway - you want to do it multiple times - or drop the pan and the valve body - to get the wrong oil out of it.
