Suggestion

I've tried just pulling it off, using the method that Loren linked and nothing works — it's stuck tight.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I searched and only saw info on different years of tips for the **** removal. My wife bought me a carbon fiber shift ****. Do you just yank it off? there does not appear to be any clips or screws. Thanks for the help.

POST 4Original post

Apologies for unearthing this topic, but I'm currently fighting to remove the button from the Tiptronic shifter **** and failing. I've tried just pulling it off, using the method that Loren linked and nothing works — it's stuck tight. Any other tips? I'm pulling hard enough that the plastic button is flexing and I'm just afraid it's going to break.

I have found that removing the silver trim piece takes a little bit of wiggle and leverage pulling back from the top to snap it out. There is a metal bar that it slips into. Here is a stock random photo I found on google.

POST 7Original post

You are going to be buying replacement parts if you attempt to pull if off (I.e. break it). I found this link - I wish this guy did more content. Sonny’s tips for the Tip

POST 8Original post

That’s the first video I tried. Effortless on his. No idea what’s happening with mine but it’s on super tight. Tried again today and failed. Afraid it’ll break.

POST 9Original post

My experience matched what Sonny filmed. I used a 90 pick to remove the circlip - he used an ice pick. Have you looked into the area where the circlip was to make sure its clear? The **** is pretty loose on the shaft once the circlip is removed.

POST 10Original post

Asked a pro to remove it for me. Now Im stuck in trying to remove the bottom connector from the box thingy for the reverse lights. Ive tried prying, pressing, pulling, all three. Its stuck tight. Ideas anyone? 😭
