Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

There is a 3 part series on YouTube by MaxRevs on the process but in short everything is checked with the benefit that only what needs to be done gets done.
Leading evidence: 'Check with the benefit' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check with the benefit' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I thought my suspension was shot but it needed two top mounts and an adjustment to badly installed lower control arms.

Suggestion
I was prepared to comprehensively change all control arms, dampers and springs but the stock suspension is Bilstein B4 and apparently can go way over 100k miles before needing a replacement.

Suggestion
It's not cheap, starting at £350 + whatever needs to be done, but they spend half a day checking everything and it's cheaper than completely changing every damper, spring and control arm.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

...or OE spec shock/spring kit.
Apologies, another newbie question.
I'm trying to refresh the underside moving parts of my 1999 C4.
Unfortunately, I think that 20 years age of vehicle is a green light to replace everything relevant.
I seem to be having difficulty locating a supplier of OE springs.
Thank you in advance.
I was in the same position as you and after researching the various options, I decided to take my C4 to Centre Gravity. There is a 3 part series on YouTube by MaxRevs on the process but in short everything is checked with the benefit that only what needs to be done gets done. It's not cheap, starting at £350 + whatever needs to be done, but they spend half a day checking everything and it's cheaper than completely changing every damper, spring and control arm. I thought my suspension was shot but it needed two top mounts and an adjustment to badly installed lower control arms. The guys at Centre Gravity are great and very thorough. I was shocked at how little needed to be done versus what I presumed yet how fresh the suspension felt afterwards.
Up to you but I would go to CG first and see what needs to be done - part of their service is checking what is fine and what needs to be replaced. I was prepared to comprehensively change all control arms, dampers and springs but the stock suspension is Bilstein B4 and apparently can go way over 100k miles before needing a replacement. Visually the springs looked shot but Pete at CG said that they perform fine and whenever the dampers give up the ghost and leak, can be transferred to the new dampers. In short, don't go with the visuals or the driving feel: let them assess the components and see what needs to be done. My C4 is on 93k miles and still on its original B4 dampers and springs, and post CG feels tight and like new.
I can totally see the merit in going down that route.
I'm thinking along the lines of... it's 20 years old and I want to use it regularly for another 20 years. Metal fatigue and perishing joints risk concerns would continue to taunt me if I didn't take of everything at this stage.
