I have them fitted but I had to fit a 0.5mm diameter shim in to take up the slack.

I've virtually finished my suspension refresh using all Spyder Performance parts and they have all fitted exactly as per the original Porsche parts.

I fitted Spyder tuning forks and coffin arms last year on my c4 and no complaints.

Apologies, I should have added more detail, it was the inner bush opening on the coffin arm that was over sized, which made the bush spin in the opening and would have worn out much much quicker than normal.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Currently have the car in a million pieces to change out the front top mounts.
My tuning forks are pretty much past it, coffin arms still appear to be decent.
What's the consensus on aftermarket parts these days? Are the Meyle items now a decent fit?
Any pointers appreciated, thinking of fitting the 997 top mounts as discussed elsewhere on here. :?:
I've virtually finished my suspension refresh using all Spyder Performance parts and they have all fitted exactly as per the original Porsche parts.
On some of the arms on their website they state that they are even made in Germany where as the Meyle are now stamped Taiwan.
Overall I can thoroughly recommend Spyder Performance parts especially at the great price they are selling them at.
I had my suspension refreshed last Spring & used Spyder coffin arms & 997 front top mounts - I'm more than happy with the quality & cost of the Spyder bits.
Thanks for the pointers, I'll have a look at the Spyder offerings.
Surprised at how easy things have came apart for a 19 year old car. Only issue I have now is splitting the top mount nut, it's absolutely solid, and I'm never a fan of opposing force on a 7mm hex key.
I've just fitted Meyle Lower control arms all round and 4xSpyder rear upper control arms. Both very nice quality, took the porker for a drive today and really pleased. 👌👌👌
Just confirm with Spyder that they have sorted the inner mounting size being too large by 1mm, I assume it was a batch error that they knew about so would think that issue has now been rectified? I have them fitted but I had to fit a 0.5mm diameter shim in to take up the slack.
Interesting you said that Infrasilver....Just out of curiosity... Do you know if the rear lower control arm shouldered bolt is deliberately undersized (I thought it was going to be 12mm but was more like 11.75mm) to make rotating that bolt easier for camber adjustment?..the hole in the arm was something like 12.2 so a little wiggle room until torqued up. 🤔
Apologies, I should have added more detail, it was the inner bush opening on the coffin arm that was over sized, which made the bush spin in the opening and would have worn out much much quicker than normal.
I put all Spyder arms on mine. Seem good quality parts, fit is as originals.
Lucky yours came apart, I needed to cut all 4 eccentric bolts on the rear and 3 of the 4 drop links needed serious heat and lots of impact wrench working to get them out....
On the bushes in the coffin arm, the design is for the sup frame clevis/tuning fork yoke to be clamped onto the faces of the bushes, the bolt isn't a pivot pin and shouldn't have any movement once torqued up so even a generous clearance wouldn't be a significant issue, other than being out of manufacturing tolerance. You can tell if the torque isn't to max on the inboard bush as you get a knock/creak as the bush moves a bit if it isn't gripped tight enough as I found out when one wasn't fully torqued after a geo check...
Thanks for that mate. I knew the bolts weren't pivot points, but was curious as to why that eccentric bolt was not 12mm, but thanks for putting my mind at rest, makes sense now you've clarified things. Some of the suspension has been done before but the ball joints had become creaky, weren't even that old by the look of them. I was fully prepared to break out the reciprocating saw but was relieved when it all came undone without a fight! 😄
Oh I see! Hard to visualise things using words sometimes. I just reread what I posted and wasn't sure if people would understand what I was on about 🤪
I fitted Spyder tuning forks and coffin arms last year on my c4 and no complaints. All fitted upon fine, quality seemed good. Had the whole lot apart again recently due to a leaky hard line on the steering rack and 1 year on it's all still in fine health.
Also fitted the 997 top mounts. I had to grind off 2 little locating tabs to get them to fit with my shocks. Probably not an issue if you have standard shocks.
Most of the fixings were a nightmare on my car but the strut top bolt was probably the easiest part. I stuck the big DeWalt gun on it and gave it some back and forward rattle action. Like you I didn't fancy the chances of not rounding a hex that size
Did you buy genuine top mounts?
Just had the PET diagram sent through from my local OPC, it's not clear if the mount comes with the bearing or if it's a separate item?
