Anyway I followed the link and it repeated what was said in the manual to electronically open the front trunk when the battery is dead (using the red contact inside the fuse box).

Help! I was away for 2 months and my battery died. I followed the manual to allow me to open the front trunk (using the pull-out contact in the fuse box and connecting the negative to the door hinge). But I get a reverse polarity message on my battery pack and can't get the trunk open. Any ideas?

Sorry! Missed the link - all I saw was a photo of a car. Anyway I followed the link and it repeated what was said in the manual to electronically open the front trunk when the battery is dead (using the red contact inside the fuse box). In the end, my problem was the quality of earth. The door hinge (recommended by the manual) didn't work. The door clasp didn;t work. But I put the earth on some chassiss steel under the car and it worked! Thanks for help - took some trial and error, but got there in the end.
