Suggestion

In this model "in theory" Porsche didn't allow optional sport suspension due to the potential problems with the glass roof misalignment because of the stiffer setting of sport

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

22 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My wife and I purchased a 99 cabriolet this fall. Since then we have become obsessed and fallen in love with the 911, and the 996 in particular. We became enamored with the targa platform and test drove one locally. A rennlister found me and we eventually worked out a purchase of his 2003 midnight blue metallic Targa. This was a distance sale, and took a bit to finalize, but the car made its way from Ohio to Oregon yesterday. This car is amazing- full leather, leather wrapped dash, deviating carpet, aluminum ebrake, 997 shifter, H&R lowering springs on bilsteins, and the list goes on. Fair to say this is a one of a kind car. Only 42,000 miles on it, but its begging to be driven. We are in love.

POST 2Original post

Very nice car, congrats! Is that pinstriping on the hood? Look forward to seeing you on the PNW backroads.

POST 3Original post

I tend to like it when I buy a car and it shows up. Just kind of gives me a little thrill every time.

yes it was - but has since been removed. Are you in Oregon?

This is my first distance purchase. Definitely stressful at times. Is it real? But of course it is!

POST 6Original post

Congratulations on owning the most practical 911 ever made! From one targa owner to another.

POST 7Original post

At least you didn't buy this - https://www.thedrive.com/news/extra-...ine-apparently

Got plates and did a ceramic coating today. Love this car!

POST 11Original post

Thanks- absolutely love this car. The color combination is just perfect. Took her to the beach today. Love the blue.

POST 13Original post

Congrats, Matt. It's always great to send a cherished 911 to a new caretaker. It's even better when they are good people. I hope you guys have many smiles and many more miles than I put on it. For other Rennlisters: While it was a long distance sale. both parties were honest and fair with all aspects of the transaction, w both being Rennlist members. Best of luck, Mike

thank you Mike! You were great to do business with!

POST 15Original post

Congrats! Nice car!!! Which suspension does it have installed? In this model "in theory" Porsche didn't allow optional sport suspension due to the potential problems with the glass roof misalignment because of the stiffer setting of sport shock absorbers

I dont think so. This has billstein shocks and H&R Lowering springs. It drives excellent and less shifting and interior noise than my cab with a hard top.

Interesting. Do you have a reference for that? I put RoW M030 suspension on my car and the PET had part numbers for a targa.

POST 18Original post

Congrats on joining the 996.2 Targa club. I love seeing the Targas and what options some of them have. I see yours is almost optioned like mine with no PMS but with heated seats and headlite washers. I am hoping to do a retro fit in the future for heated seats. I bought mine as I wanted the best of both coupe and cab, but with a more funcationality with the hatchback....I do have creaks on the Targa structure, but thats the charm of it. Mine is a daily driver and that hatchback works perfectly for me

POST 19Original post

Than that targa top hatch is so practical. What a sweet ride. Congrats on your purchase.

This 996.2 Targa had B8 Bilsteins w/ H&R Sport springs (-1.25") , w/ new supporting parts. H&R Rear Adjustable Bar. If I recall, 15mm front 17mm rear EPC Wheels spacers push wheels to edge. Cliff side view was my actual Photo wAi enhancement ) It was aligned by Bill Brausnick at his Performance Alignment, Cin, OH. (Knows Race, Porsche's) Coated Zimmerman Rotors on all 4 corners w Akebono Pads. Stock 18" Conti.Contacts on 5 spoke BBS . Someone mentioned no PSM, it has it. I don't recommend 911 w/o it ) Car is very unique in color w/ flop on visual and Draped Graphite Grey leather interior w/ Blue deviating carpet. Most of interior plastic redone w Pelt of GG leather from P dealership.I added Turbo Instrument Hood leather binacle , and Full Leather Door cards, and replaced lot of bit parts , Dash Trim Horseshoe, Console, etc. w/ a Aluma Look option that flaked from original 03 soft touch GG/black color on parts. ) This car handles so much better than my 996 Turbo. Balanced. tight, light, taught, stops, fast and every mile was enjoyable.
