This took a while as they fitted the job in between other jobs but it lived in a nice warm workshop over winter and I managed to catch the bug.

I sent the car straight to my friendly local body shop as a "Christmas" job for them and they let me use their workshop to work on the car, which essentially boiled down to a suspension refresh and servicing, oh and stripping the car for a full repaint.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, I can finally report that I have "officially" finished the restoration of my 3.4 C4 tiptronic S cabriolet and very pleased I am as well. Last November I bought my car with a dented door and scratched bumpers. The damage was miniscule and the previous owner had just spent in the region of £12k on the engine and gearbox then slid it slowly into a bollard. I sent the car straight to my friendly local body shop as a "Christmas" job for them and they let me use their workshop to work on the car, which essentially boiled down to a suspension refresh and servicing, oh and stripping the car for a full repaint. Everything went smoothly until I tried to raise the hood. It took 4 days of trying before Alex from Porschetec popped in and 5 mins later all was good. It turned out the release cable/catch had jammed. For good measure a new door and cill was fitted and the car repainted. This took a while as they fitted the job in between other jobs but it lived in a nice warm workshop over winter and I managed to catch the bug. So finally the car was home, 4 wheel aligned and ready to go. I filled the tank and spent many evenings wafting around the lanes of Hertfordshire. The tiptronic is wonderful, but the big news is that I have finally used £50 worth of petrol (since Nov 19) and can report a healthy 26 and a bit MPG. Last weekend I booked into the capel manor classic car show and got lots of positive comments from other Porsche owners so am officially happy with the result and to top it all my insurance company class it as a classic car so it it cheaper to insure than our Golf. Pictures to follow and I have another project at the ready

POST 10Original post

The car looks stunning! What are those wheels..?

POST 11Original post

Look great. Well done & enjoy. Have you permanently de-badged the bonnet? Did you fill the holes?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Those wheels are BBS 19". I was very keen to get the perfect finish to the car and putting badges on it, in my opinion, spoilt the look so i left them off. However just before i sold the car i relented and put the bonnet badge back on as i had not had the holes filled. My car is now with a new owner and i am told she loves driving it.
