If you can afford to have the cash temporarily tied up in the two cars I'd run with them selling it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Guys hope your all well !
As I have mentioned before I'm thinking about changing my 996 c4s and getting into a 997 .... I wasn't looking for the 3.8 but have come across one for sale in GT ONE so I went down to have a look. The 997 they have is a silver 56 reg with 75k on the clock but it has a load of bills, the major ones being 13k for a full in house engine build in late 2018! Has a few other bills from the hundreds to another for just under 4K so seems like a very good car that should have no issues ? So the problem being do I trade mine in or sell it private ?.... Their car is a shade under £29k .
So options ,
Sell mine private
Trade mine in
Get them to sell it for me as I know they have a customer who will buy it .
So what do you all think? Please bombarder me with the replies , I will try to
Post some pics of the 2 cars together !!
997 search
So I forgot to mention the silver 997 is fully serviced and doesn't need that looking at for just under 2 years , it drive really well and I wasn't to sure if I would prefer a tip or not , the body work looks good , it has age related marks but the only thing I could see was that the space between the bonnet and wings wasn't even ?.
It had the stone chip guards to the rear arches, one probably would need to be replaced as it was marked .
So the engine is well taken care of , the suspension has been refreshed and it drives very well , it doesn't have a sports exhaust but it did not sound standard ? ( any thoughts ??') . Can anyone steer me in the direction of what else to look for or what may need looking at before purchase? GT One seem to have a good rep and I have not heard anything bad said about them but if anyone has had dealings good or bad let me know .
Cheers
Chris
If you can afford to have the cash temporarily tied up in the two cars I'd run with them selling it. Less hassle and they will hopefully secure you a better price than you would, just agree a sensible commission, particularly if they have a shoe-in with a buyer already lined up.
The front of a 997.1 and the back of a 996 C4S !
But in answer to your question, I'd try and leave a deposit on 997 and advertise yours. The way the market is at present I doubt it will hang around.
If you are like me and can't even wait for a kettle to boil, take the marginal hit on yours through said dealer and he gets win win... you get the car quicker and everyone's happy.
Sounds like a well sorted example, just drive and enjoy.
Out of those two exact cars the 996 wins hands down. Unless you just want a newer car, although both are old cars now.
Oh I guess if your 996 needs loads spending on it, now might be the time to get out of it.
997 looks nice enough but not enough of a jump in any particular area to warrant spending any extra money on.
Just my 2p though. Good luck with your decision, although I'm guessing it's already made.
Thanks for the reply's so far ...... keep them coming !!
To be fair my car doesn't need any work , all that has been needed over my ownership I've done, apart from general maintenance I think this car is good to go and will be an a great car for the new owner I should say anyone who is interested then by all means send me a message and I will give a full rundown of work done !.... Get a great car before it goes on the autotrader !
