Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

I was prompted to ask as there were a few at an event I attended yesterday and in a 911 driving away I again heard this tinny sound and (forgive me for still having boy racer blood) it just sounded so un-sporty compared to my last non family car (a TVR V8 with no cats).

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had a 911 S for half a day from my local dealer which I loved and am in the process of trying to secure a GT3 (wish me luck)!. I just want to query those that know the car more that the only thing that was off-putting was the rather tinny rattly sounds from the rear? Maybe this is a feature of the reduced run exhaust system possible (never having owned a rear engined car)? I was prompted to ask as there were a few at an event I attended yesterday and in a 911 driving away I again heard this tinny sound and (forgive me for still having boy racer blood) it just sounded so un-sporty compared to my last non family car (a TVR V8 with no cats). Since then much regs have come in but as I kinda fell in love with the balance and PDK of that 911 and its lovely NA urge I'd just like some input there. Cheers BB

POST 2Original post

Exhaust heat shields are quite prone to coming loose which can sound like the noise you refer to.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes that was the kind of noise - but these two were brand spankers. BB

POST 4Original post

In that case I'd say its the normal sort of noise that these engines make.
