You checked the bulb elsewhere but what about power to the socket?
Check few fuses like the passenger compartment sensor

Checked a few fuses like the passenger compartment sensor that MIGHT be related but they are fine.

I did remove my glovebox and replaced the switch behind it, everything worked fine, the old switch didnt look like it could be fixed since the contact point seems really loose already, I bought one almost new from caymanpartsdirect, it was really cheap, like $10 i think, i dont remember but im sure it was cheap switch.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I tried to replace my interior lights with
LED
ones and somehow my glove box light no longer works. It's not the light bulb (switched it with the foot well light which works fine and it still doesn't work).
I did some researching on this site and it looks like I need to remove my glove box to access the switch which senses if the glove box is open. That looks rather involved, which I will probably have to do.
Now my question is - once I remove the glove box and access the switch, is it something I can fix, or do I need a new switch or part?
Thanks...
There is an article on removing the glove-box. Its not hard once you know exactly which screws you need to remove (and where they are). However, definitely check out the fuse 1st. I doubt the switch is broken.
Did you try putting the incandescent bulb back in? When I swapped mine to
LED
two things bit me 1)always putting the
LED
bulb in the wrong way ( only works 1of 2 ways) 2)making a good connection to the socket (have to adjust the wire contacts)
Thanks for the tip. Do you know where is the fuse?
I looked at the big fuse box (
Cayman S 2007 Fuse Listing
) and couldn't find it. Checked a few fuses like the passenger compartment sensor that MIGHT be related but they are fine.
did you solve this problem ? I have a similar issue with no glovebox light after trying to fit an
led
now a standard bulb wont light up either... cant find any fuse that's blown either.
Same problem... Any solutions?
Since everything else electrical is working fine, I can't imagine a fuse is blown. I doubt the switch suddenly went bad. I've tried two different light units and neither worked.
Has anyone solved this mystery?
Other than calling a
Porsche
dealership, who will likely say I need to bring the car in, does anyone know who I could call to trouble shoot this problem? Would
Porsche
USA help or just refer me to a dealership?
They answer me to change switch and cable and pay about 180 euros here ltaly labour included at
porsche
dealer......so the light in my glove box is still switched off. I will do if no one will find another solution
I had similar problem, I also tried to change the interior light to
LED
but after changing, it just wont light up again

So finally we have a solution. Do you have the
porsche
number of the switch? In
cayman
parts actually the don't have so I will order from
Porsche
but I need the number. Did u put a normal bulb after replacing it? I guess
led
somehow burn this switch

i bought it for $40 from them, i just saw the history
i got it new , removed from new car they said
Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but,
Is it possible to lose something that you toss into the glove-box, with it getting stuck up and behind the box.
Say, oh I don't know, a winning scratch ticket you think you threw in there? A $60 scratch ticket.
Could it have flown up and behind the box?
Is it worth the effort to take apart the box to find it, hypothetically?
OK... I have this same problem - tried to install
LED
in the glovebox, it lit for a moment and went out and then even the original bulb stopped working. Has this happened to anyone recently? Did getting the part mentioned above fix it? Are you able to use the
LED
bulb or did you revert to using the original bulb?
