Don't worry about front lift unless you have a particular problem with your driveway entry/exit, splitters are easily replaced anyway.

I'm hoping it will be a keeper with me as I'm terrible at changing cars!

Suggestion
They suggested changing the front tyres before doing anything else, which I did but then didn't get a chance to try it which was a shame.

Suggestion
It was possible to drive around it in the wet, by using the throttle.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

May look at this over the weekend, nice spec but not sure If front lift is essential on one of these...

Don't worry about front lift unless you have a particular problem with your driveway entry/exit, splitters are easily replaced anyway. I've had four GT models and all been fine, just the odd cosmetic scrape and without the lift, it's one less thing to go wrong in future.
Update when you've bought it.
Amongst people who regularly track the car (kind of the point of a ClubSport) the failure rate on the front lift system is staggering. As AL001 said above - unless you can't get it into your house without the lift - frankly you do not want it.
Get used to occasional scraping of the splitter and sport mode on the PASM for speed humps (reduces compression and chance of grounding when you drop off of the other side). Just buy it.
New splitters are 100 quid and v easy to fit if they ever come off.
Mine scrape the entrance to my garage on my previous 997 gt3 and now the 996 RS but they also flex ,
Also if they scuff you can easily rub them down and sorus with a black polish.,
Basically lift isn't an issue.,
You won't buy a dud from JZM either it's where my 996 RS came from
Just bought a 997.2 GT3 CS and am loving it. Doesn't have lift and it is surprising what it will go over without catching. Interesting on the PASM sport idea. Does sport PASM not lower the suspension further like on a standard Carrera?

PASM doesnt lower the suspension on any Carrera or Porsche for that matter. Its controlling the dampers.
Sorry but on a standard 997 Carrera sport mode on PASM does lower the suspension slightly by I think about 10mm. I'm assuming it doesn't on the GT3 hence the question.

How does it do that when it only adjusts the damping speed?

PASM suspension is 10mm lower overall than non-PASM suspension.
It does not lower the car by 10mm every time you put it into sport mode and then raise it by 10mm when you go into comfort mode.
As ttdan said, PASM just effects the damping rate, not the ride height.

Congrats I saw the car this afternoon. Was owned by a very good friend of mine from 3k miles.,
Amazing spec and well cared for in his ownership

Not hanging around these, are they.
Last of the true GT3 cars, bar the 4.0.
991 GT3 just a trim level IMO.

The gap from the 7.2 GT3 to the 991 one is huge, incremental it seems in the earlier ones and not just the extra ps.

Ouch! Thats harsh!
Having had one, and now back to a 997RS, i would agree entirely. It is a fine car, but it's 991S+ rather than 991GT.

Don't say that, you'll upset Apolo! (;

That's good to hear! Looking forward to picking her up
I think you bought it well. You could probably get a little more for it tomorrow and its not often you can say that. I so nearly decided to keep it. Absolutely sweet peach of a car to drive. Drifts nicely! I hope you enjoy it. It did understeer a fair bit on track (I only tracked it once at Combe). It has a fast road set up on it and I reported back to Parr (who carried that out) that it still understeered in the high speed stuff, quite dramatically. They suggested changing the front tyres before doing anything else, which I did but then didn't get a chance to try it which was a shame. I think the originals were from when it was delivered and its possible they dried out and lost their bite. It was possible to drive around it in the wet, by using the throttle. It was sublime in those conditions, you'd never know it was rear engined.
If I had kept it I would have gone one stage further and asked Parr for the stage 1 set up, this is their midway set up. Apparently stage 2 is a bit compromise for road driving. But I have had my 4.0 and 997.1 RS done by them in stage 1 format and I have to say the difference on the road is not noticeable, or rather there are no drawbacks.
I was also going to make a 4.4 by sending it off to Manthey. Shame I never got around to that. It did get the money no object treatment off me though. Aside from the trackday and driving it in a spirited fashion, when circumstances allowed, there won't be a better one out there. Personally I would always rather buy a car off someone who can drive and has some mechanical sympathy.
No real concerns on how it has been driven the Rev ranges are clear and the car certainly feels very well balanced. My back ground is Atoms and Caterham etc so a bit lighter than the GT3.
I'm afraid I'm going to slightly ruin it's low miles status as I'll probably put 5,000 a year on it, but at the end of the day it is there to be used and looked after..
I'm hoping it will be a keeper with me as I'm terrible at changing cars!
Its a GT3! Its basically a race car for the road, it is supposed to be driven fast! As for over-revs, there are no excuses for that. I don't understand how people manage to do that in these cars. Well I do, but it is entirely avoidable. Enjoy.
I am on the lookout for a 3.8 RS but I fear my budget of 150k won't be enough......
