Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My attempts to replace the handle and door lock microswitches in my passenger door have gone wrong in more ways than I could have imagined. Im stumped by the latest roadblock and hoping this community can help.
Im having an issue where the passenger door is stuck closed. Neither the interior or exterior door handles are working to release the latch. I have the door panel off and have double checked that both the interior and exterior handles are connected and working as they should. The door is behaving like it is locked, however with the panel off I can see the actuator cycle from locked to unlocked and back again when I press the key fob.
So far Ive tried tried resetting the battery (long unplug of both terminals), banging the door and lots of jiggling of the lock assembly.
Ive read some older posts on here and Facebook that all seemed to lead to hacking apart the lock assembly to get to the latch. Before I go down that path, has anyone run into this recently and how did you resolve it?
Repaired the exact same problem as you describe above. Its not the micro switches.
No need to hack anything...
Replace the door latch actuator. Thats your problem. Don't bother to try and take apart your old one and Frankenstein it. Just get an inexpensive URO latch. I've been running URO for over 2 years now, they work perfect, everything works with them Get the one for the 996 not for Audi or VW.
Link below is for the driver door USA. Got no idea what year or model you've got, or even what side of the road your passenger door is on...

Thanks for the reply and my bad for not clarifying, its the right side door on a 2001 C2. I picked up a used door lock assembly off of eBay that I plan to swap in. I know it would be ideal to get a new assembly but it seemed like all of the URO door locks were for the left door. For the right door the only option I saw was genuine Porsche for $450+
My problem right now is that I cant open the door to get the old lock assembly out. The door wont unlatch using the inside or outside door pulls. I have the door panel off because I had replaced the handle micro switch, and can see that the both door pulls are engaging but I the door wont unlatch.
I spent a good chunk of time upside down in the passenger seat trying to peer into the door to see if I could engage the closed latch with a screwdriver to no avail.
The latch is a electro-mechanical actuator. Is the battery still hooked up? Do you have 12V? You might consider looking up the wiring to the actuator electrical plug and run some "jumper" wires to it (12V and ground) to see if you can trip it. There is some good information in this thread
