Has anyone installed polk db651/db652 speakers to replace the lower front speakers on the 987? Is it a direct replacement using the provided adapter ring, or does it require a custom adapter? According to specs they should be shallow enough but not sure if the mounting screws will line up. Figured I'd check here before prying off the door panel. I have the base sound system (no sound plus package) which only comes with 6.5s in the doors and tweeters in the dash. Planning on putting coaxials in the doors and just disabling the stock tweeters instead of going with component speakers. From what I've read the stock tweeters and woofers are just parallel wires with a capacitor next to the tweeter to filter out low ranges. I would prefer a proper component set up but don't want to deal with running new tweeter wires.
