Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all. Not long had the new car, and doing my best to understand it all. One issue I've noticed so far is that there is a consistent squeak at idle or low speed. The squeak will Disappear if I depress the clutch pedal.. so initially I thought it was a throw out bearing or pressure plate but searching further online I've seen some forum pages go down the route of possible issue with the power steering fluid level (which is fine) or some people changing to a 997 power steering pump. I can't seem to find any recent info on this. Can anyone share any info and if this is a common problem? Thank you

POST 2Original post

Doubt is has anything to do with your power steering fluid. Where's the squeak coming from - the footwell?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I only noticed it today. I think I'd have to go for another drive to pinpoint. It's coming from the engine/gearbox area.... The reason I thought it was clutch or throw out bearing related was When I depressed the pedal It disappeared.

POST 5Original post

water pump? mine went from a squeak to something a little louder when the bearing was on its way out

POST 6Original post

Agree, check everything that is turned by the belt, idler bearings don't last for ever.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the help. I've taken the belt off and checked all the pulleys... everything seems ok. My thoughts are still the clutch. As it disappears when I press down on the clutch
