Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I have a 2005 987 Boxster with the Bose system, all stock. This afternoon, when I turned on the system, the rear speaker enclosure was making a loud, distorted noise, which does not change when I turn the volume up and down. When I turn the volume up, the front speakers come on, but are skewed toward high end as though the crossover is sending all the power to the subwoofer. I've checked the wiring connections and everything seems fine. The system worked fine earlier today, so this was just a sudden change. Any ideas?

POST 2Original post

Sounds like the amp may have kicked the bucket. As for fixing it, no help there.
