Reported cause
When I refitted my turbos I had a similar leak and it was due to the scavenge system not scavenging.
Leading evidence: 'scavenge system not scavenging' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'scavenge system not scavenging' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). I'd fitted AN lines as my pipes had also decided not to move.

I believe they were K16's, refurbished at some point in the past and fitted with hybrid turbine's

Oil leak was gearbox sump seal, no sign of a leak at the turbo but certainly the oil on the floor was under the turbo but thinking about it was very clean oil so maybe there is something else here...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey all
Its been a while since I logged in here, the Turbo has been in the garage under cover since about March last year for obvious reasons! I made arrangements a month or so ago to book it in for a service, MOT and to sort a small oil leak on the o/s turbo res. along with at least one corrin arm that was showing signs of wear at the last MOT. So today was the day. It has been hooked up to a Ctek charger and started on the button, without any hassle whatsoever which was nice 8)
Getting back in the driving seat after all this time was great, the 4 miles drive (in traffic) was un-eventful, everything felt good, and the pearl black paint looked amazing in the summer sun!
So MOT was 2PM, haven't heard anything as yet so will hopefully get it back around Thursday depending mainly on the state of the oil leak!
Really looking forward to using it this summer and getting reacquainted with the who package!
Edit:
Oil leak was gearbox sump seal, no sign of a leak at the turbo but certainly the oil on the floor was under the turbo but thinking about it was very clean oil so maybe there is something else here...
Coffin arms both sides have play and need replacing, and front shock top mounts are shot. Oh and reversing lights not working.....All in all not bad
MOTs are worse than going to the dentist!!
I have a modest BHP (read low!) seven which is put away Oct-Mar. It always scares and exhilarates in equal measure first drive in the spring!
Haha, MOT time is always nerve wracking even if you know you have a good car.
That's not bad CB. Suspension stuff is par for the course on any 996 and the reverse lights will most probably just be the switch on the gearbox.
My GT3 technically failed last month although my guy let it go as he knows I'll do it. Rear fogs not working. That'll be the dash switch which I can see after checking the price, is subject to the Porsche tax.
Anyway, enjoy the car. :drive:
Yea all pretty minor stuff that you expect to wear, and it you keep on top of it the cost of ownership evens out unless of course you get a major catastrophe......
Insurance
wasn't to bad considering I don't have any no claims as my vehicles are either company owned or classics. Used AIB who were sympathetic to the extensive mods and power

So it looks like the oil leak is coming from the turbo itself and not just the reservoir. The turbo's are in a bit of a state but serviceable by the looks of things. I believe they were K16's, refurbished at some point in the past and fitted with hybrid turbine's
Will keep updated when they have been stripped and the oil lines and unions inspected........
So turbos off and of course the unions to the sumps were not for moving!
The cores actually look in pretty good condition I think....
Sent off for a check over and seal change
When I refitted my turbos I had a similar leak and it was due to the scavenge system not scavenging. I'd fitted AN lines as my pipes had also decided not to move. I'd not tightened up one of the fittings all the way and it was drawing air.
Sweet as now, have a look at my build thread in my sig if you want some pics etc
A bit of Turbo *****

The cores were cracked causing the oil leak, bad luck on my part but new (re-cored) turbos will mean there is not much more that hasn't been replaced! Fingers crossed a few years trouble free :hand:
