Hey. My new toy is being built today at the factory (July 10th!). I can't wait to get it. One of my biggest fears though is that I am so used to the excellent factory fitted bluetooth that is installed in my BMW 325ci M Sport Convertible which I have had for the last two years. I would be very grateful if members would advise what experience they have had in relation to installing bluetooth kits. A friend of mine who has a 911 Turbo advised that the Porsche bluetooth kit available from the dealer is very poor. Is Parrot the best way forward?
We have several members with the motorola kit, including moderator Chows4us, and they are very happy with it. The parrot kit however has a screen, and users cocodrillo and tme110 have it, and say very good things about it and they actually have it patched into the Cayman's audio system, while those with the motorola kit are using an external speaker. There is a very detailed install article on the parrot kit in the articles section.
If you have the PCM, you always have the option of getting the Dension Gateway 500 and it's bluetooth accessory; however, this is a very new product and hasn't been widely tested on this website. User Astrojeff has installed one but is reporting that there is a big echo problem with his unit.
I think at this moment the best kit is in fact the Parrot kit, but more people will have tested and tried out the Dension kit by the time your car is delivered; so stay tuned.

I have the Parrot 3200 and like it. As soon as I paired my phone, it downloaded all contacts. Does voice commands already stored on my phone.

question COCarmonS, does everyone hear you ok when you are driving? My setup works fine but when I'm actually driving people say they hear too much engine. I did try to by a more directional microphone but when I got it, I realized that it was directional to cover the entire car which is exactly what I did not want. Though, my system was originally dead. Right when I was trying to send it back, it started working so maybe I have a bad one...
So far I have had no complaints about being heard. But I have not attempted to talk to someone while really accelerating. The mic is positioned at the top of the drivers side A-Pillar.
