Suspected cause
Id say if you were going for overall weight saving then something like the OZ Allegeritta (spelling) are probably the lightest for size.
Leading evidence: 'lightest' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'lightest' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm on a bit of a lightweight theme on my resto mod. 1998 c2 aero manual so off to a good start. The only real downside is a sunroof but, I like it and use it so it's all good.
I weighed the wheels today just out of interest. Standard fit sport designs which I like, and they are original and carry well on any aero/gt3 car.
The rears came in at 25kgs each with the 285/30/18 p zeros.
Fronts are 22kgs each with the 225/40/18 p zeros.
I know wheels are obviously a must have but that seemed like a savage amount of weight on a car supposedly coming in around the 1300kg mark. The wheels and tyres alone are 94kgs.
What are the lighter budget options? O.Zs are just too pricey for my budget, atm anyway.
I've read that some 18" panamera rims work well.
I'd like a second set of wheels to stick on the car when it's in for paint so I can get my own wheels split and refurbed.
My sport designs are as heavy as they get so anything lighter would be great to try.
I'm hoping to shed 80-100kgs elsewhere so more on the unsprung weight would be good.
But then again, would you feel a couple of Kgs off each wheel?
As usual, all help welcome
You'd want 18' Carrera wheels; they're the lightest Porsche 18' wheels.

I prefer the look of SportDesign, but I think 5-spoke suit the aero also.
I fitted them on my aero C2:
I thought the steering felt lighter and the car felt lighter on its feet at slower corners. Placebo effect? Who knows!
I've always liked those. I must keep an eye out for a set.
I've a lot of other stuff done (or planned as the car goes back together) to ditch the weight so the wheels should definitely help.
Thanks
I too have my 9x6 era motor on a diet too. I'm going to bang some Team Dynamics on there, can't remember the savings but I did calculate it. I like the look of my Boxster cost option wheels, but they are heavy and a massive ar$e to clean.
I've just found some turbo twists that would do my job for sticking on the car to send for paint but there's no weight saving so defeats the purpose. Though they are cheap, blasted ready for paint and close to me so I might just go on and grab them as a back up plan
The 997 Carrera IIIs are meant to be fairly light too, offsets just about work (a bit more poke at the back, and a bit less at the front).
I've got them on mine, and will weigh them one day as there doesnt seem to be a published weight online (22/24lbs is mentioned in a forum but that's not very precise!)
You probably won't feel much with say ½kg (like some BMW lightweight rims) but 2kg and they'll definitely feel better, but do bear in mind total weight - some tyres are heavier than others ... more research required.
...the lightest 911 wheels are the 17" 10 spoke ones thus it you want to quantifiably reduce weight, improve steering feel and enjoy better ride quality these are the ones to fit...
Sorry to go slightly off topic/thread hijack but what aftermarket wheels people tend to choose for weight saving?
I am sure lighter wheels make a noticeable difference, they sure do on my pedal bike!
Some good points. I had been looking at the 17" wheels and there's a fair difference in weight, they just wouldn't look too good matched to the aero kit.
Yeah 997 Carrera wheels could also be a goer.
Tyres I must weigh as I've a couple there.
It's hard to know
OZ Racing has a decent range, and fairly well priced compared to some of the exotic stuff out there. The Ultraleggera is quite popular in the Club over here, I've started to see several sets at the track since I got mine...

As you know Ive had a fair few sets on mine including the ones your currently have. I have to admit I have noticed a difference with the lighter ones but not a massive difference.
Id say if you were going for overall weight saving then something like the OZ Allegeritta (spelling) are probably the lightest for size. Carerra II or III as said probably best OEM. The Panamera spoked one I had were light but 8in and 9in in sizes.
The Sport Design are one of the heavier sets, anything less will be a bonus.
I had thought about asking you when I saw your latest style on Instagram.
I like the sport designs which is a big part of the problem or I'd just sell them for something else. I might just keep an eye out and see what turns up.
Car looks great btw
