I have installed the Bluetooth BTA1000 accessory into my Dension GW 500. I have the CDR 24 radio. There are two issues with the device:
1. There is a significant delay when talking to another caller, about 1/2sec. This also seems to cause a horrible echo, mainly in the voice of the caller on the land line. It does the same if I initiate the call to them with my cell phone in the car. I am using a Motorola Razor phone, undoubtably the most common phone around. The delay and echo are not dependent on the volume setting. If I cannot get this to work properly, then I will have to return the unit, as it not tolerable.
2. The other issue is with the mute wire. Unfortunately the manual does not list any P car in its diagrams. I used pin #3 on the the 8-connector pin on the back of the radio, as I had read that this is the mute line. Is this correct? The radio will automatically mute if one is using the gateway device (IPOD or Sat), but will not mute if it is tuned to the FM, unless this mute wire is doing its job.
Has anybody else installed this device and has it working properly?
Thanks,
Jeff
I saw that it was for sale, but I was waiting on the group buy which I still haven't heard about. There was a guy on ******** with pictures, but he didn't mention any of these problems. Note that he didn't do anything with the mute wire.
My wife tells me that I have an echo when I use my Nuvi, so maybe its somewhat related to the passenger compartment. I agree that its a problem, and I wouldn't be able to use it with a half second delay. Thanks for the report.
Could it be related to a delay sending audio data across the MOST bus?
The delay doesn't really bother me. It's the echo that the person hears from his own voice when speaking. I thought that maybe the microphone is picking up the delayed sound in the cabin, and that's what the other person hears, but it doesn't change when lowering the volume.
The mute issue is okay. When a call comes in, if you're listening to FM, you can press the CDC and then the radio will mute and switch over to the call. However, with the CDR24, I found that I have to answer the call on the phone itself. You're supposed to be able to do it my turning the "next" button on the radio controls, but that doesn't answer the call.
I don't know the Bluetooth module deeply, but there are many good installs on various cars.
I think there is something with the Porsche MOST system. I even heard that the factory fitted MOST phone kits - used here in Europe - cannot be used in US. There are only wired (not optical) kits are available there, is it true?
