I have researched previous threads and read a bunch on this topic but I have to ask as I am not certain what the most current info is. Is the Dension the best option to go with? What is actually displayed on the
CDR24
for info from the iPod? Does it show songs, artists, or just numbers? What is the best software version, and has it been updated lately? If you don't install it yourself what has it been costing to have installed? I don't want to beat a dead horse but I am actually more confused from reading the old threads.
I got your PM. It doesn't display any text from the music whatsoever. It emulates 6 disks. The first 4 disks represent the first 4 playlists. Disk 5 represents all songs on the iPod. Disk 6 represents a configuration menu (that can't be accessed from the
CDR24
with the current firmware). Under each disk (playlist), each song is represented as a track number. It seems like a pain, but it beats any alternative out there for the
CDR24
.
I installed it myself. I broke one clip behind the vacuum cansister in order to free the fiber up. I drilled two holes through grommets to run the ipod wires. I now have my XM hardwired to the auxilliary and my iPod in my console. Total install took a few hours. I'd do it again in a heart beat.
Is it possible to shuffle all songs from the ipod? Can you control the music through the ipod itself and is the cd changer still usable?
Hey, I have a
CDR24
and the Denison installed. Here are a few things that may help you decide.
-Firstly, the unit is awesome and works great
-you need to upgrade the firmware to 1.05 to work with
CDR24
. This is done by putting the new firmware on a usb stick and plugging it into the denison. Very Easy
-Like smounic said, the first 4 changer buttons control the first 4 playlists. So just make sure to put your favorite 4 playlists first by putting 1,2,3,4 in front of their names. You can only control the ipod from the
cdr24
, the ipod is locked unless your in changer 6 mode. See bellow
-What changer button 6 does is lets you control the ipod so you can select any playlist you want. I usually have it on the mode all the time.
So, if I read you right, you can leave it on changer 6 mode and you can control the iPod with the iPod controls and don't have to use the
CDR24
controls? I just want sound to come out of my dock port and into my
Bose
. I don't ever want to have to use the radio buttons to control the iPod. Is this right?
Final questions. What does the #5 button do and can you still use either the in-dash or remote cd changer?
Hey, you can go either way with controlling the ipod. You can use the head unit to move back and forth between songs in the playlist or use the actual ipod.
The indash single cd player still works fine. Im not sure about the cd changer as I dont have one installed.
Hope this helps
I've been trying to find out the cd changer thing for a while now. I have a
Bose
with the 6 disc changer (didn't want it, but the CS I bought had everything I wanted plus the changer so I took it). Eric at Bumperplugs answered in a pm that some people have been able to use the cd changer with the Denison. I'd like to verify that before I buy (which I really want to). BTW- FM modulators are terrible (in SoCal).
Can anyone verify use of the CD changer AND the iPod with the Denison? Oh, and what does button #5 do?
