Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Well I am debating on getting this fixed or just to tryout the remote key.

POST 1Original post

My dealer informed me that it is not possible to set the car to automatically lock at 3-6mph unless you have the Sport Chrono. Has anyone else run across this same response?

POST 2Original post

Mods4cars remote key will also solve this. I think there is a group buy on.

POST 3Original post

Whoever you spoke to in the dealership is not informed. The service tech can do that for you. You can confirm this by reading your Owners' Manual (page 22 of the '06 version) and point it out to whomever you talked with.

POST 4Original post

I did point that out to the dealer and they stated that they contacted Porsche and they said it could not be done.

POST 5Original post

Well either your "dealer" is stupid, lazy, or they're lying to you. I absolutely do NOT have sport-chrono , and my dealer set my locks to lock when I drive off. I have no special aftermarket equipment; they lock every time I drive off and go 1-2 mph or so. Guaranteed!!!

POST 6Original post

I agree. They set mine that way. If the dealer still disagrees, ask him to show you where Porsche told them that. Or find another dealer. And tell the GM and maybe even PCNA why you left.

POST 7Original post

Its also worthwile noting that uk cars come with this as standard, SportChrono or not. I expect, as said above its just a setting out of the convenience features.

POST 8Original post

yellowbird I suspect your service writer is messing with you. It only requires hooking your car up to the Tech's computer and making the proper choice and properly saving it. Do you think they may have forgotten to do it at all or put a rookie on the job? Be sure and let us know what happens.

POST 9Original post

Last time I actually talked with the mechanic working on the issue. He showed me how the setting did not "take." He would make the choice in the software. We'd go for a ride and the doors would auto lock. Only once. I was using Key 2 at the time, and I agreed to try Key 1 later because the mechanic was stumped, and more diagnostics would be required. So, that's where we are now. I agree though if the service writer had "given me the story" I would not have accepted that. We shall see.

POST 10Original post

I might add that just because it is listed in PIWIS doesn't mean it CAN be done, there are items in PIWIS that are listed that cannot be done unless certain items exist in your car. Also, there may be a situation where your car will not accept the programming for whatever reason and either a part has to be replaced or some memory wiped out like in my case.

POST 11Original post

My 2007 CS does NOT have sport chrono and the dealer asked me before I took delivery if I wanted it turned on. I said yes, they hooked my car up to PIWIS and in less than 5 minutes I was on my way with the locks engaging as soon as I started to drive off in first gear. It can be done anyone who says otherwise is either mis-informed or too lazy to do it.

POST 13Original post

Good luck! Let us know if this turns out to be your problem, or if the diagnosis leads to a solution to your issue.

POST 14Original post

Well I am debating on getting this fixed or just to tryout the remote key.

POST 15Original post

You should check with the folks that make the remote key find out whether their device needs the above-mentioned PAS module to be functioning properly in order for the remote key to also function properly. You' d hate to get the remote key assuming it will solve your problem, and have it not do so.

POST 16Original post

You have paid for it. So get it fixed even if you have to take it a better dealer.
