RAC get the car started and follows me to petrol station, as dealer has left no petrol in car  Fill car up and it starts on the half a turn the battery allows.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
Looks like my C4s battery has given up the ghost. Pretty much over 4 hours.
Went up to visit my mum and dad in North Wales on early Friday morning up the legendary A470.
When I started her up a little more of an effort than usual but ok. Any way ok used the car for a few little trips whilst up there an no problem.
Started out this morning 4:30am, a little sluggish to start but OK. Did the full journey door to door no stops circa 3.5 hours had the headlights on but no radio. Any way stopped out side the house then 10 mins later car would not trun over just clicking noise. hmmmmmm
Contacted Porsche Assist RAC came over did the check, battery knackered. Watched the test after a boost charge and two red bars.
Car will not turn over after the boost charge so car is now in garage having a sleep.
So how much are Porsche genuine batteries and what is the highest power or strongest one they make??
I have via Porsce assist got a Porsche technician coming over tomorrow supplying what I was told the highest battery for £147.00 in vat.
Dare I ask: am I being robbed???
Cheers Alan.
another vote for the bosch silver (and a trickle charger)
no idea how Philip got one for £47 though. I paid around £80. Although electricity in a box is still a new invention here...
Hi,
Well after much thinking went for the Porsche battery in the end 80mA bad boy. Had committed to it and the potential for a warranty argument if there was an electrical issue in the future due to non original part swayed me.
Have to say the Porsche Assist with the warranty is excellent. Offered to get an RAC van to jump start me when I needed it today. Got the battery fitted for £132.00 at my house includes 10% PCGB discount. Has 2 year warranty.
So both my local OPC's are charging £147 for batteries. Looks like there is a big difference on pricing.
Appreciate the responces.
Regards Alan
Get a trickle charger (this site has them) to keep it topped up.
It will then last for years.
Porsche battery prices are robbery plain and simple.
Bosch batteries are a quality product fitted to a whole range of performance cars.
Any talk of electrical warranty issues is pure scaremongering by Porsche and is despicable behaviour.
My car was delivered yesterday
I was involved in a telephone conf at the time so after a brief look around the car let the dealer get a taxi back to the station (he'd driven about 100 miles to get to me).
When an hour later I try to start the car - nothing
Engine hardly turns over and then the alarm goes off.
Try a number of times, but its definitely dead. Inform the dealer but he's now on the train back home.
Luckily I have Porsche Assist so phone them up and RAC an is around in about 25 minutes. Quickly diagnosed as dead battery (not Alternator as I thought). Of course battery not covered by warranty. Now RAC do have a special Porsche (Prestige) van that carries the right batteries. Howevere there are only 8 of them and the one nearest me is off until at least Monday !
So choice is.
- Get dealer to sort it out - but he's 2 -3hours away
- drive to OPC and fit battery
- wait until Monday /Tiesday for RAC
- go and get a battery myself and fit it
After a couple more phone calls Porsche Assist get OPC Guildford to put one on charge for me. This way there is no issue with the Porsche Warranty and they can sort out any problems with radio codes etc... RAC get the car started and follows me to petrol station, as dealer has left no petrol in car  Fill car up and it starts on the half a turn the battery allows.
Get to OPC in about 30 min - very flash setup. Different from when I was last here and it was a combined Audi dealer as well (bought out first A2). Car gets booked in and news is broken to me that the 'menu' pricing for a battery is £252
Not a lot I can do but take it like a man. At least its got a 2 year warranty.
So I get the car for the weekend but its probably cost me an extra £100.
I'll see what dealer says...
Very unfortunate. I would have driven until I caught the train up, pulled the dealer out of his seat and given him a wedgie on the platform. Just to make you feel even better, what you should have done is bought the Bosch Silver for £86 and fitted it yourself.
Anyway, the porsche battery is actually quite a good one, and at least you have a warranty. Suggest you read the 996 FAQ page for battery info. Enjoy your new toy.
JCT Leeds quoted my £250 for replacing my non-standard battery which is highlighted as an advisory at every opportunity!!
