Tyre Warehouse are brilliant if you are ever near Brackley (5 miles from Silverstone): They have a proper dynamic balancing machine that uses the stud holes rather than the wheel centre (which apparently isn't always in the centre!) and they seem to really care about the car and what they are doing - they even lent me a tool once and let me clean the cross-drilled holes while they sorted out my tyres.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I think I'm going to have to replace all 4 tyres. Even though there's loads of tread left, I've noticed that some of the tyres are quite old (DOT 0503). So this means 5th week in 2003 for manufacturer, so + six years = next February!!!!!! The other problem I have is that I believe the tyres on the front have a DOT of 2007. Whilst this is fine, it's actually a Yokohama and Yokahama only make rears in 265/35! So, the challenge is, do I: a. Replace all 4 with the correct rears (285/30) and these are the options: - Michelin Pilot Sport 2, out of stock everywhere (but typically, £271 rear + £167 front, all inclusive) - Pirelli Roso N4, in stock everywhere (typically £240 rear + £135 front, all inclusive) This is per tyre price. b. Replace the 2 rear with the Yoko (265/35) for £208 each. Thoughts? Cheers, GD

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, Thanks for the reply and quite tempting, but to be honest, after my recent purchasing experience, I'll never, ever buy used tyres again...just not worth the risk and hassle. I want to get rid of the 18" Yoko's asap, but I've got to fork out another £750 on top of the alloys that I've just bought + my service + warranty is due next month. And the most annoying thing is that my previous tyres are in perfect condition and quite new (eg. rears only 2 months old). Cheers.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know of a place that can beat £750 all in for 4 new tyres? I'll try Bracknell Tyres.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers for that. I'll give them a go. West End is certainly closer. Blackcircles will do a fully fitted price of £232 rears, £130 fronts (Pirelli) = £724! Michelin's are £260 rears and £170 fronts. So still a tidy amount.

POST 7Original post

I have just (this morning) had two 265/35/18 Conti SC2s fitted for £366 all in at Brackley Tyre Warehouse. Fronts are quite a bit cheaper, so I reckon it would be about £650 for the lot. I got them to balance my fronts as well, and it's like having a new car!

POST 9Original post

Hi GD, I had all my tyres done for £570 incl balancing, new valves and VAT. They were Bridgestones but I am only telling you half the story here. The rears only are N-rated as they didn't have front N rated tyres at the time. I'm not really too fussed about the fronts not being N rated, but if you're interested in the details, I can let you know. My sizes are: Rears: 285/30/18 Fronts: 225/40/18 Cheers ~ Maxie

POST 10Original post

I've just bought 4 michelins in costco for a total of 610 all in. They're doing 20% off 4 at the moment. You need to be a member and they only do Michelin tyres.

POST 11Original post

A tad off topic but what do people recommend for a 996 TT. I have Pirelli's at the moment. Seem very noisy?? Thanks in advance.....
