Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, Having a look on eBay and there's a few bumpers for sale, some will even paint it for £90. Now I know we're concerned about paint matching, but the reality is that even more factory painted panel looks a slightly different colour than the metal body, so I'm not too worried about that. What I'm thinking about is simply buying a new PU (or one from a breakers) and removing the old one and replacing it with a secondhand re-sprayed one. So the questions are: a. Is there any difference between the pre- and post-facelifted 996 rear PUs? b. How easy is it to replace the rear PU? c. I'm guessing it's relatively easy, because the OPC always remove it for servicing, in which case, does anyone have a step by step guide and does it require jacking up (I'm guessing not). As you've guessed, I'm considering a relatively cheap DIY job. Cheers, GD

POST 2Original post

a) They are different. The facelift PU is deeper and a different shape at the bottom. b) Dead easy. c) See attached. HTH

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for that Richard, I suspected I'd see an excellent response from you (as usual). Cheers, GD
