Replacing "Fried Egg" headlights & bumper with

Has anyone on here done this, is it vaguely cost effective, and how complex is it? Are the brackets etc involved radically different? I assume the bonnet and wings are the same? Kind Regards Edward

Are you thinking of pre-facelift to facelift or to 997? There's plenty of discussions about this on Pistonheads right now. Also check the American sites. It's going to cost you and frankly you won't get any of it back, it may even harm your future sale. Porscheshop and design911 sell conversion parts if you're so inclined...

Replacing the orange lights with clear lenses is relatively simple, just a plug and play replacement. Again try design911 or even a brakers yard. Ebay is also a good option as it's a failry common change. As for pre to facelift, you're probably looking at a good £4k including new light housings, bumpers and fenders plus painting... eg from design911 website. Hi Ive done the facelift conversion to my 2000 c2, you ill need head lights, headlight trays, all front bumper parts (plastics ect) headlight conversion plugs (dont buy the design 911 ones as they dont have any wires they are just plain plugs and the after service/advice is non existant!) Buy these from jasmine, you will have to work out which wires go where as they dont match! I do have a facelift front bumper for sale on ebay if reuired, alternativley my clear lense front lights are for sale on ebay and come with the clear corners (proper 996 parts not the cheaper boxster ones) and are a 2 minute swap! Hi Adam Thanks for your email re: your old headlights Are they in mint/near mint condition, any blemishes etc? Also, I note it comes with the corners, which is good, however I have headlight cleaners in my orange corners, I may have to get rid of these if I fit yours, the washer system needs a hole. Then again, im not sure the washer system even works anymore, so may not be such a problem! Kind Regards Edward

Yes they are in 'mint' condition, as for the washers im not sure? These are the correct 996 parts as you can get the cheaper boxster ones all day long!! Cheers adam

Aren't the front ends of the pre facelift 996 and the boxter identical? lights and all. :? TB

The 996 lights have beam levelling motors in them - the Boxster ones don't. You can swap the motors though. You can buy the corner covers which have the headlight washer hole separately, but they cost about £30 each.

Hi Adam Its Lloyd, the one who just purchased your front bumper off Ebay, I have now got the lamps, just need the trays and I am good to go. I have looked into this conversion because many say you need to change the wings, I can see this is not quite true but you do need to modify the base under the lamps... was that difficult?
