I've double checked the manual and it makes no reference to N-rated being non-repairable.

I've had Porsche N-rated tyres repaired before without any issue.

Sorry to give more bad news, but it is not considered safe to repair an N rated tyre at all...

I had one repaired once, but the tyre centre would only accept cash and wouldn't give a receipt and said they would deny all knowledge of it if there was ever a problem!

I was very pleased with myself, jacking the car up and replacing each wheel faster than McLaren F1.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
Got my wheels last month and finally got around to fitting them yesterday.
I was very pleased with myself, jacking the car up and replacing each wheel faster than McLaren F1.
I was then brought back down to earth, when I went to replace the last tyre.....I found the new wheel had a bl00dy nail in it!!!
Now despite the fact that I bought the tyres/wheels as a set, I just cannot understand how the seller would not have noticed that the tyre had a nail in it. When I say nail, it's actually a screw and it's certainly big enough to spot with any inspection of the tyre...but that's another story (am waiting for them to call back, but I fully understand how the conversation will go)!!!!!
So, have 3 new wheels on and 1 old wheel, whilst I see if I can get it plugged.
Sods law is that the nail is right at the edge of the safe gap to get repaired, so I'll see if Kwik Fit will fix it today.
If they can't (and I suspect they'll say no), this means I need to get a new tyre.
The problem is that the tyres are part worn (down to 6.5mm), so does this mean I need to replace both tyres? I thought that it was 20% difference, in which case, again, it's right on the border (by my calculation, 7.8mm and a new tyre is 8mm).
Cheers.
PS - I would swap my other tyres over, as they are all pretty much brand new, the problem is that they are 17", not 18" unfortunately.
PPS - I'll post a picture of the screw, so you can all see what I'm talking about.
PPPS - I won't name the seller just yet.

I had one repaired once, but the tyre centre would only accept cash and wouldn't give a receipt and said they would deny all knowledge of it if there was ever a problem!
However, you can get away with a 2mm difference between tyres on the same axle, so 1 new tyre will be fine.
Hi,
Very interesting! I've had Porsche N-rated tyres repaired before without any issue.
I've double checked the manual and it makes no reference to N-rated being non-repairable.
Where did you read this, was it just that one tyre place?
On another point, what sort of price are people paying for rear tyres? 285/30s?
Thanks.
