Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

I seem to recall that you can test the Tip lights in the dash with a Porsche tester, so that might be a starting point.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Was out in my 996 C2 Tiptronic the other day, and, although the gears were changing fine, they only showed 4th or 5th (even in 2nd and 3rd gear) Any ideas what may be wrong here I had a new sensor fitted last year as had no gears at all (at a cost of £700) but been told that this is not the problem Car drives fine but just that not showing correct gear in Manual or Auto. Cheers John

POST 2Original post

If everything is working correctly, but the 1-3 lights aren't coming on, it sounds more like a problem with the instrument cluster than the Tiptronic control unit. I seem to recall that you can test the Tip lights in the dash with a Porsche tester, so that might be a starting point.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard Got it booked in with Porsche garage tomorrow so hope it's not an expensive weekend again. John
