I am trying to install a
sprint booster
and I’m having a heckuva time figuring out how to remove the harness from the top of the throttle pedal. I have removed the pedal assembly so have access to the connector and can depress the grey connector, but cannot figure out how the switch slides off? I’m pressing the gray connector down and it feels like it has a spring resistance to release a lock but I’m having trouble pressing it and sliding the harness assembly ‘Up’. Its as if I’m having to press against the resistance of pushing the connector in. I’m doing something wrong but don’t know what?
It's been a while but I do remember it being pretty fiddly. Maybe this will help?
A pair of big channel locks works. Use them to squeeze the light gray tab towards the body of the connector. When I did that it popped right off, could not get it off by hand.
+1.
Sounds like you are doing it correctly. I was going to suggest removing the pedal as that makes things much easier, but you have already done that. You might try applying some channel locks (very gently) to the gray tab.
I’ve watched that video numerous times. Makes it look easy!
I've seen several threads/posts that refer to an article "
Adjustable Performance Sprint Booster - Articles
". However, I'm not finding the article on this website (think they disappeared with the change in servers?). Does anyone have access to this that they can send me or post?
I think a lot of the articles got nuked a while back.
Anyway: channel locks. Like below. Remove the pedal, put one jaw on the gray tab, and hook the other under the base of the connector. Squeeze gently, it'll release.
I dunno how the guy in the video got it to release so easily by hand. That absolutely did not work for me.
I got it off! I used a jewelers screwdriver, turned the pedal assembly so that I could see into the connector and had an idea of what I was doing. And OMG!!! What a difference in the driving experience! I’m not going to gush about putting it in race mode #7 yada-yada. Just let n the green mode 5-7 and I’m a happy camper! I can see that my mpg is going to drop because I’m putting my foot into it a bit more, but suddenly my
Cayman S
is fun in more than just twisties (which we don’t have an abundance of in the Texas Panhandle). It now provides the ‘lets go now!’ feeling that I had in my Corvette. Well worth the price (which for me was $259 OTD.
