Convertible top, hardtop 911 Carrera (996) No. Procedure Instructions 6 Fasteningthe fastening strap at the main bow I~I Information: As of model year 2000, an altered main bow will be installed. The convertible-topcovering connection on the main bow is screwed in position with a shaped sheetmetal part (inset C). In vehicles built before model year 1999, the two upper bores (arrow C) must be re-drilled into the shaped sheetmetalpart. To do so, mount the shaped sheetmetal part on to the main bow by the two lower screwed points. Mark the position of the new drill-holesthrough the upper holes in the main bow with a markingtool. Removethe shaped sheetmetal part and drill at both markings with a .0 6 mm drill bit. 61280009 Turn the vertical fastening strap of the convertible-top covering inward around the main bow, and place it on the shaped sheetmetalpart. (arrow A). Fastenthe fastening strap to the main bow with the T25 M5 x 10 and T15 M3.5 x 8 oval-headscrews. Tightening torque 1.7 Nm (1.5 ftlb.) Tighten the T25 M5 x 10 Torx screws mounted in the wedge (arrow B). Tightening torque 2.8 Nm (2.0 ftlb.) Fasteningretaining rail and convertible-topseal on roof frame 1. Removethe fixing clips, push in the convertible-topseal at the corners from the front, and fasten with the T25 x 12 Torx screws.
